Parody: Where the Mind is Without Fear

Where the mind is fearful
And clouded with sleep;
Where knowledge is ignored
Like a stray dog on the street;
Where the fragments of a shattered world
Are held together with glue;
Where only bumbling idiots
E’er speak words that are true;
Where striving for perfection
Is mocked and ridiculed;
Where by dead superstition
Clear reason is fooled;
Where thought and action are stifled
By overweening greed;
Deliver us now, Lord,
From this dread faith and meed.

(No offense intended, or disrespect offered. It's just that our Headmistress lurved this poem and told us so every chance she got and I really detested her. That's all.)
